We, the Elders and Pastors, commit to the following responsibilities.
1. To live a life that is worthy of imitation, by God’s grace. (1 Timothy 3:1-7; 4:6-16; 6:11-16; Titus 2:7-8)
We will strive to live lives that display humble love, godliness, integrity, and a commitment to prayer, God’s word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit in seeking direction for our family.
2. To shepherd the church family. (1 Peter 5:1-4; John 10; Acts 20:28)
We will shepherd the church in three primary ways: leading, protecting, and teaching. Elders will provide direct shepherding to one ministry area. We will actively move towards new members, those in need, those struggling with their faith, those young in their faith, those hurting, and those serving in ministry. We will strive to make ourselves available to all of the church family.
3. To lead the church family. (John 10; 1 Pet 5:1-4)
We will lead our church family from the front, standing on the foundation of our core values and ministry vision. Our goal is leadership that is visible, approachable and active in every area of ministry. Elders will provide oversight in the overall direction of the church including finances, policies, facilities and staffing. Pastoral and support staff will lead the day-to-day ministries of the church family.
4. To provide constant prayer cover for the church family and its leaders. (Acts 6:4; 1 Th 5:17; Eph 6:16-18; Jam 5:16)
We will be devoted to prayer for the church family, individual members, the staff, and each other, and will move towards and seek out those in the church family who request prayer.
5. To provide constant doctrinal watchcare for the church family and its leaders. (1 Tim 4:1-11; 2 Tim 2; 4:1-5; Eph 4:14-16; Acts 6:4)
We are fully committed to the doctrinal statement and teaching position of Faith Bible Church as well as consistent growth in our understanding of God’s Word. We accept the responsibility to confront false teaching and sinful behavior, and will initiate discipline in a biblical way with restoration as the goal.
6. To listen and communicate effectively. (Jam 1:19-20; Eph 4:25; 2 Cor 2:17; Titus 2:1)
We will be intentional in our effort to keep the congregation informed and will seek input from and, when appropriate, involve the congregation in important decisions. We welcome and respect diversity of thoughts and the right of others to disagree with decisions we make. We also vow to maintain confidentiality on private matters.
7. Labor to preserve the unity of the church. (1 Pet 2:21-25; Matt 18:15-18; Gal 6:1-2)
We seek to lead the church body in giving grace and living truth by the way we address conflict, maintaining a spirit of reconciliation, and promoting forgiveness and the resolution of broken relationships. By laboring to experience grace in relationships, we strive to seek and maintain a unity of purpose and spirit.
Accountability: The elders and pastors will strive to keep each other accountable. We also ask the wider church family to keep us, the elders and pastors, accountable to these commitments through personal interaction and correspondence.
